Haste required for extra DoT/HoT ticks

You can use the following spreadsheet to calculate how much haste rating you need to get extra ticks on your periodic damage or healing spells.

You'll need to set the value in the second sheet (tabs at the bottom) to the amount of haste you have from talents/buffs. For example, if you were a mage in a raid with a Wrath of Air totem (5%), the Netherwind Presence talent (3%) and a Dark Intent buff (3%) then you should enter =1.05*1.03*1.03 into the second sheet (or 1.113945).
